Quarantine
And think. Think about how..
America has a great way of keeping you busy. Since day one you are on a fast track. What do you want to be when you grow up? School, sport, homework, repeat. Do. More. Be. More. Live up to the image of More. But is this how its actually supposed to be? Is this what is really healthy for me?
A human being?
"Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it...There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God"
Hebrews 4:1 & 8
I love this passage because it has an almost accusing tone about doing something so good. Its like your mom saying, "And don't forget to eat that chocolate I bought you. Afterwards we're going to Disney Land, okay?"
God loves self-care. Surprised? He likes it when we takes naps and read books and watch Gilmore Girls. He likes it when we laugh on the couch with our families and plug in our twinkly lights. When we breathe, like actually breathe.
I'm not saying there isn't a place for work.
I am saying there is a place for rest.
So in this interesting time, settle into it.
What does all this time for thinking bring up for you?
Memories.
Things that you are thankful for.
Things you are not so thankful for.
Perhaps its a good time to do some emotional spring cleaning and tend to what we usually don't have time for. Even if its a little scary, bring it to Jesus. He knows just what to do. He is the healing. He is a friend. Easy to talk to. He is understanding and kind. Patient, very patient. So, talk it out with him. He is not afraid of your mess. He loves it.
